Minister Wilkinson Announces Funding for Medium-Duty and Heavy-Duty Vehicles
Government Committed to Achieving 100% Zero-Emission Vehicle Sales by 2035
Today, the Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson, Canada's Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, announced an allocation of $42 million for projects focused on medium- and heavy-duty zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs).
This funding is part of the government's commitment to encourage the adoption of ZEVs by Canadian businesses. By supporting the development and deployment of medium- and heavy-duty ZEVs, the government aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve air quality, and create jobs in the clean energy sector.
The funding will be used to support projects that focus on the following areas:
- Purchase and lease incentives for medium- and heavy-duty ZEVs
- Infrastructure development, such as charging stations and hydrogen fueling stations
- Research and development of new ZEV technologies
- Pilot projects and demonstrations of ZEVs in real-world applications
