General Motors Recalling 21,469 Cadillac Lyriq SUVs Over Anti-Lock Braking Concerns

21,469 Electric SUVs Recalled due to Unexpected Activation of Anti-Lock Brakes

General Motors (GM) has initiated a recall for approximately 21,469 Cadillac Lyriq electric SUVs in the United States. The recall stems from concerns regarding a potential unexpected activation of the anti-lock braking system, which could lead to reduced braking performance.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued the recall notice, specifying that the affected vehicles are all-wheel drive models from the 2023-2024 model years.

According to NHTSA, the issue arises from a software malfunction that may cause the anti-lock braking system to activate prematurely during low-speed maneuvers. This could result in increased stopping distances and pose a safety hazard to both occupants and other road users.

GM has advised owners of the recalled vehicles to schedule an appointment with their authorized Cadillac dealer as soon as possible. Dealers will update the vehicle's software to address the problem free of charge.

Owners can also contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-333-4223 for more information or to schedule a recall appointment. The recall campaign is expected to begin on March 27, 2023.
