Labour's Foreign Policy Priorities
Cooperation and Engagement
Sir Keir Starmer, the Labour leader, has stated that his party will prioritize three key foreign policy goals upon taking power: cooperation with its European partners, engagement with the US and China, and international development.
European Cooperation
Starmer met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin to discuss strengthening cooperation between the UK and Germany. He emphasized the need for Britain to work closely with its European partners to address common challenges, such as climate change and security.
Global Engagement
Labour also plans to engage with both the US and China. Starmer believes that the UK should maintain a strong relationship with the US while also exploring opportunities to cooperate with China in areas of mutual interest.
International Development
Labour is committed to increasing its focus on international development. The party believes that the UK has a moral responsibility to assist those in need and that investment in development can contribute to global stability and security.
