Pellegrini's Withdrawal Confirmed After Collision
Italy has asked UEFA for permission to replace Lorenzo Pellegrini with Fiorentina's Gaetano Castrovilli in their Euro 2020 squad after Pellegrini suffered a collision during Roma's victory over Fiorentina on Sunday.
The club's medical staff issued an update on Pellegrini's condition, stating that he had undergone medical tests which revealed a muscle injury.
Zaniolo Also Withdraws
Nicolò Zaniolo has also withdrawn from the Italy squad due to a knee injury, leaving manager Roberto Mancini with a headache as he prepares for the tournament.
Roma's midfield has been hit by a spate of injuries and some minor tactical incongruities with José Mourinho's system, leaving Mancini with a limited pool of players to choose from.
Italy is set to face Turkey in the opening match of Euro 2020 on Friday, June 11th.
